EMG Saltcores recognized at the Tenneco India Supplier Summit

At the Tenneco India Supplier Summit in Pune, India, EMG Saltcores by CeramTec was recognized with a supplier award for the successful development and local implementation of sintered salt core manufacturing technology at its plant in Patiala, India.

The project, launched in late 2024, was initiated in response to evolving technical requirements and local supply expectations in the Indian piston market. Working in close collaboration with Tenneco, EMG Saltcores developed new sintered salt core solutions, established two fully automated production lines in Germany, transferred the technology and equipment to India, and completed customer approval – all within a highly demanding timeline. Serial production started in the second quarter of 2025 as planned.

The Patiala facility now produces more than two million sintered salt cores annually. Further growth is expected through the conversion of additional bonded core applications and the support of new Tenneco programs.

The award reflects the strength of a long-standing partnership between EMG Saltcores by CeramTec and Tenneco, as well as the technical expertise and commitment of teams in both Germany and India.
